Michael Buchbinder is the Founder and Managing Partner of Buchbinder & Co., a specialized M&A advisory firm serving financial sponsors and management teams navigating complex monetization situations.
Michael advises private equity and growth equity investors on the strategic decisions that shape successful liquidity events. His work spans the full monetization lifecycle, from pre-exit strategic M&A advisory and recapitalizations through transaction execution, with a particular focus on situations requiring nuanced judgment, stakeholder alignment, and differentiated monetization strategies.
Prior to founding Buchbinder & Co., Michael was a Managing Director and U.S. Head of Education Technology & Services Investment Banking at Rothschild & Co. and Oppenheimer & Co. He began his investment banking career at Deutsche Bank and Bank of Montreal (BMO), where he advised across the Technology, Media, Education, and Business Services sectors, representing billions of dollars in transaction value.
Michael holds a JD/MBA from The Wharton School and the Carey Law School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from Yeshiva University.
He lives in New York with his wife, Ilana, and their four children.
